The Chef Jannybug Story

Hello! My name is Jan Schroeder, proud owner of Chef Jannybug (formerly known as Udderly Delightful). People ask me all the time how I got started and where the name came from. I always reply with, "Well, that's a long story! How much time do you have?" Here's the condensed version of that story:

Udderly Delightful began back in 2010 when my husband and I bought our first cow. We named her Esther, symbolic of the "for such a time as this" story in the Bible (Esther 4:14). Our milk supply was abundant, to say the least! Since it is not legal in Georgia to sell raw milk, I wanted to find a different way to capitalize on our investment. So, with a curious mind and a love for creating, I learned to make cheese and set out on a journey to teach the world my new craft! I started offering mozzarella cheese making classes and selling cheese kits.

I later expanded into offering a small assortment of dip mixes that we sampled at home parties while I was making cheese. As my desire to live a healthier lifestyle increased, we grew our product line to include an array of all-natural soaps, skin care, and essential oil products. Admittedly, it was a diverse collection of offerings. For a few years, I immersed myself in this venture, as I sought to define the true essence of this company's purpose.

Through moments of contemplation and heartfelt prayers, I found the answer. The Lord revealed to me what had always resided deep within my heart.... My greatest passions have always revolved around food and family!

You see, I grew up surrounded by a large family who loved to entertain, exposing me to the joy of sharing delicious meals with loved ones. This fueled my desire to share my passion for cooking and entertaining with others.

From my childhood days, my sister introduced me to the joy of cooking and baking, which ignited my culinary journey. She also was the first person to affectionately call me "Jannybug," a nickname that has stuck with me to this very day.

Over the years, I honed my skills and expertise through almost a decade of working as a consultant for Pampered Chef, earning me the title "Chef." It was through that experience that I came to realize that many people lack basic cooking knowledge, making even simple meals seem daunting. I quickly decided that I wanted to change that mindset.

My beloved Bible verse, Psalm 37:4, resonated with me like never before.

My desire is to inspire and empower people to embrace the joy of cooking and hosting gatherings. I also hope to share my faith and extend a helping hand to others. My greatest wish is that you will be inspired to give back to your community by supporting a local food bank near you, a cause that holds special significance for me. "The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor." Proverbs 22:9.

This business has evolved over the years, and our newest endeavor is our  kitchen themed gift shop (Chef Jannybug's Pantry & Gifts) located at 5489 Alabama Ave, Omega, GA. We have gourmet foods for everyone on your gift list along with aprons, tea towels, and unique kitchen gadgets. We also have our complete line of Chef Jannybug products from our website. On any given day you can pop in and see us hard at work in our commercial kitchen preparing our mixes. We also hope to expand our offerings to include sandwiches, refrigerated pickles, snacks, and desserts. Who knows? We might even start a catering business!

Please join me on this culinary adventure. Let's bring back the tradition of gathering around the table with delicious food and create cherished memories with our loved ones. And let's not forget those who may need a helping hand putting food on their table. Together, we can make cooking and entertaining an enjoyable and rewarding experience for everyone!

I'm absolutely thrilled that you've taken the time to stop by the website and explore its history. Wishing you a fantastic day ahead, filled with blessings. ~ Jan
